Air hammers and chisels

Imagine being able to hit your hand chisel 5,000 to 8,500 times a minute – and still have design control. Cuturi (Italian) and Trow and Holden (USA) air hammers accomplish this very feat. Both manufacturers make air hammers for a lifetime of sculpting.

The length of stroke of the air hammer or the travel of the piston helps determine the power of the tool.  Italian air hammers have a medium stroke whereas the American ones come in both a short and a long stroke. The best air hammer for you is determined by the type and size of stone you are carving and the amount of detail you wish to achieve.  Before you make your purchase we will consult and recommend the best tools for your objectives.

(Note: The size of an air hammer is expressed as the diameter of the piston.  This is not the chisel size which almost always has a  ¼” or ½” shaft or shank.)
